Community lines street, shows support for 6-year-old battling cancer

CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) – Cheatham County is coming together to support a 6-year-old boy who is battling cancer.

Marcellus Newsom’s condition is worsening, and he has to return to the hospital.

On Sunday night, he and his family headed to Vanderbilt’s Children’s Hospital for treatment.

People lined the route with candles and glow sticks, so Marcellus could see them as he headed to Nashville.

According to a Facebook page set up for Marcellus, he was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor called Pontine Glioma last December.

These brain tumors are highly aggressive and difficult to treat.
