Center of Hermine near the northern Outer Banks.
At 8 am, the center of Hermine was about 10 miles NNW of Oregon Inlet North Carolina, latitude 35.9 North, longitude 75.6 West. Hermine is moving toward the east northeast near 21 mph, and this motion is expected to continue with some decrease in forward speed through today.
On the forecast track, the center of Hermine will move over the Atlantic waters, with the potential to regain strength this weekend.
Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph with higher gusts. Once the storm moves offshore, it could get stronger. Hermine could be near hurricane strength by late Sunday.
ON THE BEACHES… a moderate risk of rip currents this weekend… and surf (while slowly dropping)… will still be a little rough especially this morning.
