Forecast Track Directly over Savannah.
Hurricane and Tropical Storm Watches issued for parts of Florida Gulf Coast.
At 5pm, the center of Tropical Depression Nine was about 345 miles west of Key West, Florida, latitude 24.4 north, longitude 87.3 west. The depression is moving toward the northwest near 5 mph, and a turn toward the north-northwest is expected tonight, followed by a turn toward the north-northeast on Wednesday.
On the forecast track, the center will approach the Florida coast on Thursday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression is expected to become a tropical storm tonight or early Wednesday.
While the track and future intensity of the storm are still somewhat uncertain, it could come very close enough to our area and we could see local impacts as early as Wednesday, but mainly late Thursday into early Friday. These impacts would include heavy downpours, gusty thunderstorms and rough surf. Stay with STORM TEAM 3 for the latest updates. There will be plenty!
