Frontage road at St. Gregory The Great now open

Bluffton, SC (WSAV) – A Bluffton road project that was some 10 years in the making is now complete. On Thursday families headed to St. Gregory The Great Catholic School had two new ways to enter the property. The principal, Chris Trott, said this alleviates the safety hazard of the former entrance and exit that was straight off Highway 278. Parents, staff and parishioners of St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church did not have a light or turning lane to use, and that created a danger, the principal said.
“This is for the safety of everyone involved,” Trott said.
The two new access points are at Berkeley Hall and the Bluffton Fire District. The road opening was delayed by a week because of an asphalt plant closure, according to Beaufort County Administrator Gary Kubic. The church and school plan to host a formal celebration for the road on September 9th. The Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston is expected to attend.
