Story Courtesy Savannah Bananas- In their inaugural season, the Savannah Bananas had the second-highest average attendance among 160 teams, as reported by Ballpark Digest.
The Bananas averaged 3,659 fans per game at 22 regular season home games this season, 17 of which were sellouts.
The Bananas ended the regular season with a total of 80,504 fans, breaking the Coastal Plain League single season attendance record of 77,171.
The number of total fans grew to 91,004 after three postseason games. The Bananas sold out their first playoff game to bring the total number of sellouts to 18.
In addition to breaking the league attendance record, the Bananas also averaged the highest attendance in the history of Grayson Stadium.
“We can’t thank the Savannah community enough for their support in our inaugural season,” said Owner Jesse Cole. “This was truly a remarkable year that our staff will never forget. Winning the Championship was the perfect ending to this epic season and we couldn’t have done it without the communities amazing support.”
