Seventh Tropical Storm of the Season Forms in the Atlantic

While Fiona remains a disorganized tropical depression, our next tropical storm has formed.

At 11pm, Tropical Storm Gaston is about 450 miles west/southwest of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands, latitude 12.6 north, longitude 30.7 west.  Gaston is moving toward the west-northwest near 18mph, and this general motion with a slight decrease in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40mph with higher gusts.  Additional strengthening is expected, and Gaston could become a hurricane.
