Flood relief drive underway in Savannah for Louisiana

(SAVANNAH) A local effort is underway to help those affected by the recent floods in Louisiana. With the devastation being called the “thousand-year storm,” nearly 100,000 Louisiana residents are displaced. The Hostess City is stepping up to help southern neighbors in need. The people behind this effort are asking the community to drop their donations at the following locations (listed below) this week during business hours, so they can be loaded onto an 18-wheeler on Saturday and delivered to Louisiana. We will be at Nine Line Apparel on Friday, August 26th from 9am-7pm as a last chance for everyone to drop off donations. All items will be delivered to a verified point of contact in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The people behind the event say any size donation from their supply list will help. The list includes:

Toiletries: Deodorant, Razors, Feminine Hygiene Supplies, Shampoo, Soap, Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Toilet Paper, Hand Sanitizer

Food: Non Perishable Foods, Peanut Butter, Snacks, Bottled Water

Baby Supplies: Baby Wipes, Formula, Diapers, Bottles, Pacifiers, Baby Food, Diaper cream, Medicine (ibuprofen, motrin, etc)

Animal needs: Dry Dog food, Dry Cat Food, Horse Feed, Leashes, Cat Litter

Cleaning Supplies: Bleach, Detergent, Air Freshener, Mops, Brooms, Scrub Brushes, Scouring Pads, Sponges, Rubber Gloves, Trash Bags, Paper Towels, Masks

Demo help: Wheelbarrows, Gaffers tape, Hand Trucks, Furniture Dolly

Home goods: Pillows, Sheets, Blankets, Towels, Sleeping Bags

Clothing: New Undergraments (children and adult), Socks, Pajamas

Other: Ice Chests, Box Fans, School Supplies, Big plastic totes/tupperware containers, Batteries

Organizers post on social media is a call for help to fill an 18 Wheeler full of donations for the Louisiana flood victims! You can drop off donations ALL WEEK at multiple drop off locations throughout the city. We also will also be at Nine Line Apparel on Friday from 9am-7pm as a last chance for everyone to drop off donations to help our Southern Neighbors in Need! Help us FILL THAT TRUCK!!! This drive’s focus is on this supply list and not on used clothes at this time.
