Update: One victim still critical after Savannah shooting sends two to hospital

SAVANNAH, Ga (WSAV) – Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Violent Crimes detectives are investigating the shooting that injured two women around 8 p.m. Saturday night near the intersection of Jefferson Street and West 32nd Street.

Officers responded to the intersection of Victory Drive and Barnard Street where they found two female victims inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment. \

One was treated and released, while the other remains in critical condition.

Further investigation revealed the victims were shot as they traveled in a vehicle along Jefferson Street near West 32nd Street.

Detectives believe this was not a random shooting.

Savannah Chatham Metro Police tell News 3 two women have been injured in a shooting.

Police first reported the incident on Twitter just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

It happened near West 31st Street and Jefferson while the victims were in a car. They then drove to Victory Drive and Barnard Street to get help from authorities.

The women were taking to Memorial University Medical Center with injuries that investigators consider serious. Their current conditions are unknown at this time.

Drivers should avoid the area until the investigation is complete.
