Savannah-Chatham Metro Police

SAVANNAH, GA: In response to a lookout issued by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department on Monday August 8, Metter Police located auto theft suspect Jide Frederick-Lloyd, 23, taking him into custody at a Candler County, GA fast food restaurant.

Reportedly, at about 5:45 p.m., Frederick-Lloyd was at Savannah’s Memorial University Medical Center, where he became disorderly, resisting hospital security’s attempts to subdue him. Frederick-Lloyd reportedly attempted to steal at least two vehicles from the hospital’s parking lot before entering and driving away in a Southside EMS ambulance. Metro units followed the ambulance for several blocks, breaking away after confirming that Frederick-Lloyd was the sole occupant.

Metro patrol officers recovered the stolen ambulance abandoned near Paulsen and Waldburg streets, where they learned that the suspect drove away in a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado with keys stored inside.

SCMPD immediately placed a lookout on the vehicle and identified Frederick-Lloyd as its driver.  A vehicle matching the description of the stolen pick-up truck also was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Harmon and Wheaton street. No injuries were reported in the hit-and-run.

Frederick-Lloyd, a resident of Decatur, GA, was located and arrested by Metter Police in reference to this incident. Frederick-Lloyd faces pending charges by SCMPD for the stolen vehicles and the hit-and-run accident.

Frederick-Lloyd is currently being held at the Candler County Jail.
