Savannah State Tigers Hit the Field For Their First Fall Practice

Savannah, GA – The Savannah State Tigers hit the field bright and early this morning, Sunday July 31st for their first fall practice. The first two days of practice is helmet only, but the Tigers were excited and ready to go. New head football coach, Erik Raeburn, was also excited since this was his first time being able to see his team in action. Due to an NCAA restriction, the Tigers couldn’t host a spring practice, so for coach Raeburn this was all about figuring out strengthens and weaknesses.

Coach Raeburn is especially excited about evaluating all the quarterback to see who will take the starting position. Last year quarterback, Arshon Spaulding had lots of snaps, but the 2016 season may be different. With 30 newcomers, Raeburn may be looking at them to take the role as quarterback.

Now, the Tigers are use to frequent change, as many head coaches have come and gone, so today was also a learning process for them as well. One thing they took away from today is how coach Raeburn likes to his run practice.

Helmet only practice ends tomorrow, Monday August 1st. Then the Tigers get ready for full gear on Thursday, August 4th and their first game against Georgia Southern on September 3rd.
