SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Get ready for good food and great prices! Savannah Restaurant Week starts Friday.
Savannah Restaurant Week runs July 29 through August 7 and folks in the Hostess City are excited.
“You get to try new places that you haven’t been to before,” says Downtown resident Andy Lynch.”
Lynch and his wife Becky always try to take advantage.
“It’s just so nice to go out and get a few better deals,” she says.
B. Matthews is one of 26 restaurants on the list this summer. Owner Brian Huskey says it’s a great way to show what Savannah has to offer.
“It gives us an opportunity to kind of put our brand, put our product out there against a bunch of really, really talented other restaurant groups,” he says.
This is the 4th year for Savannah Restaurant Week.
“You just don’t have an opportunity to visit this many restaurants in one fell swoop once 10 days for this amount of money,” says Savannah Morning News Marketing Director Stacy Jennings.
Jennings helps make it happen every year. It’s $30 for a three course dinner menu, although some restaurants also offer a lower priced two course lunch option.
“You know, Savannah’s becoming a real foodie town, so people are really enjoying it,” says Jennings.
But the restaurants and the wait staff, like the folk at Tondee’s Tavern, enjoy it too. Restaurant week hits during a slow time both winter and summer. Getting people in the door is a win, win.
“Getting people to know our restaurant a little better, and hopefully we can get a few more people in the door after restaurant week too,” says Tondee’s Head Server Jeremy Arnold.
Back at B. Matthews, Andy and Becky Lynch agree.
“We eat like kings every week, but especially this week,” says Andy. Becky laughs and says, “Who likes to cook.”
