Metro police respond to arrest criticism

The Savannah Chatham Metro Police Department responded to a video posted online that criticizes the way officers handled an arrest.

On February 1st, officers responded to a home in the 3200 block of Martha Street to locate Michael Clay, a man they had a Simple Assault warrant for.  Instead, they found 24-year-old Patrick Mumford, a man police say resembled Michael Clay.

The entire incident, which lead to the tasing of Patrick Mumford, was documented on the three responding officers’ body cams.

An edited version of that video, including subtitles, was posted to youtube by the Claiborne Lawfirm.  It has since been shared and viewed hundreds of thousands of times on social media.
