SAVANNAH, Ga. – SCMPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to two serious accidents on the July 4th holiday.
The first happened around 4:00pm at the intersection of Bee Road and Victory Drive. There two SUVs collided and flipped, entrapping an occupant in one of the SUVs. The occupant had to be removed with the jaws of life, but fortunately there were no injuries.
A driver of one of the SUVs, 44-year-old Mark Hamrick, was arrested at the scene for DUI.
The second accident happened around 8:00pm in the 1000 block of Dutchtown Road. The driver, 53-year-old Robert Holland lost control of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and crashed through a fence before hitting a tree.
Holland was taken to Memorial with serious injuries.
The exact causes of these accidents are still under investigation by MAIT.
