UPDATE: Suspect in Savannah car theft arrested

UPDATE: Savannah Police arrested 40-year-old Jay Plemmons for the car theft from the Waters Avenue dealership on June 15th.

Plemmons was arrested for probation violation warrant out of Cobb County, but are in the process of obtaining a warrant for the car theft.

He remains in the Chatham County Detention Center.


SAVANNAH, Ga. – SCMPD needs the public’s help identifying a man who stole a car from a dealership Monday, June 15 at 4:30 p.m. on the 6700 block of Waters Avenue.

According to officials, the suspect is described as a white male, around 5-feet, 8-inches to 6-feet tall with a thin build.

The suspect went into the dealership and asked for the keys to a gray 2006 BMW 352i while the owner was on the phone. He then walked out the dealership, got into the car and left the scene heading southbound on Waters.
