Armstrong Fires Softball Coach Ted Evans

Armstrong State University’s Athletic Department fired Ted Evans on Tuesday, ending his 12 year run as the Head Coach of the successful program. The team placed 3rd nationally at the Division II Women’s College World Series this spring. Below, you can read the full press release from Armstrong Athletics. In the above video, Greg Talbott has an interview with Evans, as he speaks out about his termination, which he feels was unjust. He and his lawyers will appeal.

“SAVANNAH, Ga. – Armstrong State University athletic director Lisa Sweany has
issued the following statement regarding the school’s intercollegiate softball program.
“After careful consideration the Armstrong State University athletic department has
decided to part ways with head coach Ted Evans and pursue new leadership for the Pirate softball
program. We thank coach Evans for his 12 years of service to the Pirates and look forward to
building upon recent successes on the field.”
Armstrong State is currently conducting a national search for a new head softball coach.
