Emergency repairs to close Georgia Route 25

Georgia Route 25 will close for emergency repairs of the historic Savannah Rive Houlihan Bridge, the only operational turnstile trestle bridge in Georgia.

Georgia Route 25 will close for 30 days beginning June 19 for the $715,985 Georgia Department of Transportation emergency repair project on the Houlihan Bridge. The Industrial Company (TIC) of Savannah will repair and/or replace steel trusses to increase the vertical clearance from 14 feet 8 inches to 17 feet 9 inches. Increasing the vertical clearance should elevate the trusses being stuck by tractor trailers.

The detour for traffic traveling west of the bridge on Georgia Route 25 is:

South Carolina Route 170

Savannah River marine traffic will be halted during construction.
