(WSPA) – A man is in custody after a police chase in Anderson, South Carolina Thursday afternoon.
Authorities say 34-year-old Jose Juaruz-Guevara fled from police when they noticed his car had a vehicle tag that didn’t match his car. He is expected to see a judge Friday.
This prompted a chase that ended with him crashing at Dobbins Bridge Rd. on Highway 187, damaging a street sign and someone’s yard.
Thanks to one family’s camera on their dashboard, WSPA has the video of the epic conclusion.
Rhonda Elrod and her family were driving to the lake to enjoy a nice afternoon of fishing.
But along the way, they crossed paths with something out of an action movie.
“All of a sudden the little Honda comes flying down through here. So he decides, okay I have nowhere to go. So he spins it around in the middle of the road, there’s cops everywhere,” says Elrod.
She says she saw about a dozen police and deputy cruisers surround the suspect after he spiraled out of control.
“Guns drawn jumping out of cars, pinned him up against his car. I mean it was just all at once.”
“It’s amazing when you see the video, all the cops and everything,” says Robert Elrod, Rhonda’s husband.
Police also found a large bag of methamphetamine in the suspect’s car.
They say Juaruz-Guevara will be charged with failure to stop for blue lights, possession of a stolen tag, and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
