CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. – The Chatham County Commission approved a new company to handle healthcare for county jail inmates.
The company, CorrectHealth, will replace Corizon which is named in several lawsuits regarding inmate deaths including Matthew Ajibade.
The commissioners approved the company with no discussion.
Sheriff John Wilcher tells News 3 he is confident that medical services, including mental health intake evaluations of inmates will improve. He said since taking office in April, he has wanted Corizon “out of there.”
