DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (AP/WCMH) – Authorities in Warren County say a man accused of shooting two people including a sheriff’s deputy has been captured.
The shooting happened Thursday night in Deerfield Township, about 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is searching for 19-year-old Mohammed Abdou Laghaoui.
Laghaoui is described as a white male standing 5’7″ tall and weighing 155 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a navy t-shirt and an O’Reilly Auto Parts hat backwards. He also has a beard.
Authorities say the female deputy was shot while responding to report of a domestic situation at an apartment complex.
They say she was taken to a hospital, and was “conscious and alert.” Another person also was shot. He was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Deerfield Township Fire Rescue sent out a tweet late Thursday warning of an active shooter situation. They advised people to stay inside and not to open their doors to strangers.
A Blue Alert is a notification used to enlist public assistance in the event of a law enforcement officer being critically injured, killed, or missing when the suspect is still at large.
Anyone with information about Laghaoui’s location is asked to call 911.
