Kids plus gardening equals healthier eating.
Students at Frank Callen Boys and Girls Clubs recently marked success by making a meal with vegetables grown in their tower garden.
Who knew spinach and herbs could taste so good?
Grown indoors- without dirt, seeds are put into pods under ultra violet light.
After about 4 weeks the veggies are ready to eat.
Celebrating with a salad in a jar party this experience simmered into a good lesson about eating the right foods.
“If you want to grow strong you should always eat healthy,” says Sanai Chisholm.
“Children are excited. They’re growing food and learning about science and health, and we just want to see it all over Savannah”, explains Siti Brannen
The tower garden donated by Juice Plus Foundation.
