DNA links Beaufort County inmate to burglaries

Steven Crabtree

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WSAV) – A man serving time on multiple burglary charges has been linked to two more burglaries by DNA analysis.

Last week, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Forensics Services lab identified 30-year-old Steven Crabtree as the suspect in burglaries at Bess Delicatessen and Frosty’s Italian Ice in 2015.

Crabtree was already incarcerated in the Beaufort County Detention Center and will now be charged with burglary in the 2nd degree for both incidents.

He was served with the new arrest warrants Friday and Saturday at the Detention Center.

Crabtree remains incarcerated and is a person of interest in many other burglaries and other criminal activities reported prior to his arrest in October of 2015.

Anyone with information on other criminal activity Crabtree may have been involved in is urged to contact CrimeStoppers 1-888-CrimeSC if wishing to remain anonymous and for possible reward or the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Southern Criminal Investigations Section at 843-255-3300.
