Construction begins for HWY 80 on Tybee Island

For those traveling through U.S. 80/ST 26 on Tybee Island between Battery Drive and Tybrisa Street expect delays as Georgia Department of Transportation begins refreshing the striping of the highway.

The construction will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to a release from the company, this will be a “slow-moving operation that requires rolling lane closures”. Commuters should use caution, reduce speed and remain alert to the changing traffic conditions.

Do not attempt to pass work trucks, trail/buffer vehicle, change lanes behind the truck or swerve back and forth to see around the trucks.
