Savannah, GA- Armstrong State University’s tennis team will have a new place to display their top tier talent. The new tennis courts will be finished next month and the team is anxiously awaiting using them this coming fall.
The Armstrong women’s team recently won the NCAA DII Tennis National Championships. They added this title to their nine other championship titles.
Armstrong Athletic Director Lisa Sweany says, “I think it’s going to be a great time for pirates athletics and for Armstrong state in general and it does open up the opportunity for our students to come out and watch two nationally ranked competitive teams, compete on their home turf. I know our men and women are very excited about being on campus and having the opportunity to play in front of their fellow classmates.”
Sweany says they are starting to do fundraising to begin the second phase of the construction and have already received donations from the community. With the courts being finished in the first phase, the second phase will come complete with locker rooms, coaches offices and restrooms.
