New online threats against SCCPSS middle school

Since deleted 4Chan thread where initial threat was found

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Savannah Chatham County Public School Campus Police are looking into yet another threat of violence at an SCCPSS school that originated online.

WSAV News 3 was e-mailed an image of a thread on the anonymous posting website “4chan” that made a threat against Coastal Middle School on Whitemarsh Island.

The thread begins with an anonymous poster saying “Don’t come to Coastal Middle School tomorrow.” When the poster is asked “why,” they responded, “I will, with my Sig M400 and XDm 4.5. I’ll be waiting for you.”

News 3 immediately passed the viewer’s concerns on to the district who began an investigation.

SCCPSS released this statement Thursday evening:

Campus police Chief Terry Enoch says they were made aware of the threat and are looking into it.  It no longer is visible online but Campus Police have spoken to the person who originally alerted them to the threat.  At this time they have no information that the threat is credible – but as always – are taking every precaution to keep our students safe.  There will be extra officers on duty at Coastal Middle and two other nearby schools Friday. Campus Police have also alerted SCMPD to the threat and are making every effort to determine who posted it.  School will be in session tomorrow – the final day of classes for the 2015-16 school year.
