Memorial Health board votes to support CEO, partner still needed

New strategic partner offer made regarding Memorial University Medical Center

(Savannah, GA)- The board of Memorial Health met late this afternoon for the first time since the Novant partnership fell through.
The board took a vote of confidence for Memorial CEO Maggie Gill and the administrative team.
That deal would have provided tens of millions of dollars to the hospital.
Chair Harry Haslam says the board is disappointed, but that members continue to believe a partner is essential to the future of the hospital.
The Novant deal failed because of concerns raised by the Chatham County Hospital Authority regarding continuation of trauma and safety net services.
Several board members say, despite the setback, they still believe Novant is the best potential partner.
