OKATIE, S.C. (AP) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an apparent hit-and-run that killed a 45-year-old Okatie man over the weekend.
Lance Cpl. Matthew Southern of the Highway Patrol and Beaufort County Coroner Ed Allen told media outlets that Stanley Morton died around 11 p.m. Friday along U.S. Highway 170 in Beaufort Country.
Southern says Morton apparently was hit by three vehicles.
No vehicles descriptions have been released. Southern says one of the drivers is known to officials, but no charges are expected involving that person.
Southern says the incident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
