Felon arrested after citizen’s tip

Troy Young, 23, of Savannah, had outstanding warrants in Chatham County for three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving. He also had outstanding warrants in the Atlanta area for felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and obstruction.

According to a release from the PublicAffairs Office, he was arrested Monday, May 2nd by multiple units of SCMPD after a citizen alerted police of Young’s whereabouts. Young was found hiding under a pile of clothing behind a home on the 800 block of Cubbedge Street. Metro’s West Chatham and Downtown precinct patrol officers, K-9 and Aviation were at the scene searching the area.

Young was bitten by a K-9 during his apprehension and sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center for care.
