Humanitarian Service Award Presented

A local Vietnam Veteran has made a lasting impression on the people he’s worked with.
Reverend Enos Garvin, a Purple Heart recipient was honored for relief work in Rwanda in 1994.
Fellow veterans came to the American Legion Post 184 in Thunderbolt to support him.
As a Tech Sergeant, Garvin volunteered in “Operation Support Hope”.
He helped provide aid and relief to refugees in Rwanda in the midst of a horrific tragedy.
“Not only were they starving, but they were also in fear of being in hack to death by all those different people and groups coming to that neighborhood,” explains Garvin.
He retired from the Georgia Air National Guard before the award received approval,
but 22 years later Garvin still has a great spirit about his humanitarian work.
