SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah Police arrested 67-year-old Joe Palmer after they say he left his 6-month old great-grandson alone in his vehicle.

Police say Palmer was gathering items at an auto salvage yard in the 500 block of Staley Avenue when a bystander noticed an infant crying in Palmer’s back seat.  This happened around 12:30pm Tuesday.

Police responded and found the car parked with windows rolled down one inch.  The baby was transported to Memorial with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  Police found Palmer and determined the baby had been in the car for around an hour and 15 minutes.

He was arrested without incident and the child’s mother was notified.
