Armstrong invites you to Savannah school board forum

Many of you will choose new school board representatives in May.
Here are the candidates for two open seats.  In District Three incumbent Connie Hall will face off with Rose Harper
You can meet them at a forum sponsored by Armstrong State University tomorrow night.
Many hope the school district will continue to improve, but there are many questions.
I asked what concerns ASU student teachers.  “The emphasis is on testing.  Parents are obviously concerned about that.   The public in particular I think is concerned about what’s happening in our schools, but our students are concerned about how they’re going to be held accountable with those tests”, explains College of Education Dean, Dr. Janet Buckenmeyer.
Pay, benefits, and the type of jobs also interest ASU students, plus….
“Support.  Once they become teachers…that’s a new mandate in the state of Georgia is that we have to provide support to our students in the first 3 years they are employed.  And the school as well has to provide some specialized support, says Dr. Buckenmeyer.
WSAV’s Tina Tyus-Shaw will serve as moderator for the school board forum.
It begins at 6 Wednesday night at Ogeechee Theatre inside ASU’s student union building.
If you cannot make it we will bring it to you live on
