SAVANNAH, Ga (WSAV-TV)- Metro police are investigating the latest homicide in Savannah.
They were on scene just north of Baldwin Park for hours Thursday after finding a man dead in a home along East 39th street. Neighbors throughout the evening were on edge.
“At approximately 5 P.M. Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to the 600 block of E 39th street it’s a homicide one male victim is inside the residence,” says SCMPD public information officer Sonny Cohrs.
The name of the deceased is being withheld, pending next of kin notification. Detectives are currently canvassing the area and interviewing potential witnesses.
The death shocks nearby neighbors, but some are not surprised.
“I’m actually moving out of the location because of what’s going on to let people know that they’re drawing people away from the location because of all the violence,” says Dakota Friend who lives a few homes down from where the man’s body was found.
