Metro police arrests uncover stolen auto, guns

Three men were arrested yesterday by Savannah Metro Police in connection with an auto theft that occurred on April 13 on Wheaton Street. According to a release from Sonny Cohrs, Joe Carter III, 29, Stephen Jiles, 25, and Khalid Felder, 20, were stopped near Bee Road and Victory Drive on April 19. The suspects were in a white Nissan Altima that matched the description of a vehicle used during the April 13th theft of a 2016 Nissan Murano. Stolen guns and marijuana were found in the car and the stolen Nissan Murano was also recovered.

All three men were arrested. Carter was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Felder was charged with theft by receiving stolen property (gun) and Jiles is charged with possession of a firearm by convicted felon and theft by receiving stolen property (gun).

The incident remains under investigation. Additional charges may be pending for all three.
