COLUMBIA, SC (CNN) – Three young women have been arrested for teaming up to attack a 20 year-old woman along the Saluda River. The incident was caught on cell phone camera.
“One’s kicking her, and she’s completely helpless. It’s just really hard to watch,” said Ramy Williams, a friend of the victim. “The other one was just wailing on her face, wailing on her head, you know, on the back of her head. It definitely could have killed her.”
A police report says the victim was at the river with a friend when the attack occurred. The report says one pulled the victim by her hair before throwing her to the ground and that members of the mob slapped her, pinned her down, and repeatedly beat her, while the assault was recorded on camera by men.
“Seeing the aftermath was just insane: the way that she had blood all over her face, two black eyes, you can tell that she’s completely messed up in the face,” Williams said.
The victim suffered a concussion and broken nose.
The Columbia Police Department has arrested Arlinda Craft, 18; Anns Leigh Hill, 19; and Megan Williams, 20. All three are charged with second degree assault and battery by a mob.
“Justice needs to be served. I think they all need to be locked up, and I think they need to get what’s coming to them,” Williams said.
The victim says the attack was unprovoked, but says she does know the suspects.
