Autopsy shows Nashville doctor stabbed 17 times by husband

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Autopsy results show the Metro Public Health Department doctor murdered in January was stabbed 17 times.

The Davidson County Medical Examiner, Feng Li, confirmed to News 2 at least one of those stabs was to Sandra Thomas-Trudo’s heart.

The 53-year-old, an epidemiologist for the city of Nashville, was found dead inside her Belle Meade home in the 500 block of Belle Meade Boulevard on Jan. 21.

Metro police said they discovered her body between her bed and the wall after her husband, William Thomas-Trudo, walked into the West Precinct and allegedly admitted to killing his wife.

During a February hearing, a detective testified to finding blood in the bathroom and a knife in the sink.

William Thomas-Trudo remains behind bars in the Metro jail on $1 million bond. He is charged with first-degree murder and his case has been bound over to a grand jury.
