2 dead after plane crash at Tampa Airport

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Emergency crews are responding to a report of a small plane crash at Peter O. Knight Airport on Davis Islands.

Crews were notified about the possible crash around 11:35 a.m. on Friday. Large clouds of smoke could be seen coming from the airport. Fire officials confirmed two people were found dead at the crash scene. Officials said one plane, a twin-engine Cessna 340 was taking off headed to Pensacola when the crash happened.

Tampa International Airport is reporting that Peter O. Knight Airport is closed.
