Savannah, GA – The Savannah State basketball season wrapped up on Thursday, March 3rd. But the Lady Tigers, the defending MEAC Champs, are gearing up for the 2016 MEAC Championship. They enter the postseason in the eighth seed.

WBB Enters MEAC Tournament as Eighth Seed
NORFOLK, Va. – The Savannah State University women’s basketball team (10-17, 7-9 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) enters postseason play with the MEAC Championship as the eighth seed.
The tournament starts on Monday, but the Lady Tigers’ first game is on Tuesday against the No. 9 seed South Carolina State (11-15, 7-9 MEAC) at noon.
This season, the two teams have meet twice on the court with each team winning on their court. The Lady Bulldogs defeated SSU 56-43 on Feb. 13 in Orangeburg, S.C., while the Lady Tigers defeated SCSU 62-39 on Feb. 27 in a game where SSU never trailed in.
If the Lady Tigers win, SSU would face Bethune-Cookman (18-11, 12-4 MEAC), who received the No. 1 seed after winning the tiebreaker with North Carolina A&T State. SSU fell to B-CU 50-44 on Feb. 2 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Last season, the Lady Tigers won the MEAC Tournament Championship as the No. 2 seed by defeating No. 8 seed Maryland Eastern Shore 65-47 in the championship game.
