He moved from Atlanta to our area a year ago and already he is back in trouble with the law.
“Unfamiliar with habits, unfamiliar with people he may socialize with, unfamiliar with hangout spots, we just don’t know,” said Chatham County Sheriff’s Investigator Shania Gardner.
That’s why Chatham County Sheriff’s are asking for help finding Vernon Johnson.
Johnson was convicted of rape in 1985 in Gwinnett County and just moved to Chatham County last year.
The 56 year old last checked in with Sheriff’s SORT team in September. Moved out of his house this fall, and hasn’t been seen since.
“He was no longer living at that address,” explained Gardner. “The landlord didnt know what happened to him. He just all of a sudden left the residence.”
“When he was released from the Coastal Transistional Center he was given a list of regulations and rules he was to abide by. He was given another copy when he was initially came into the sheriff’s office to register. So he’s aware of what he needs to do but he chooses not to do the right thing.”
Vernon Gonzales Johnson is 56 years old 5’9″ tall about 200 pounds.
He used to live on West Anderson Street, he could be by the Coastal Transitional Center, or maybe even back in Atlanta.
