We previously reported on the mid-February shooting death in the parking lot of the Haig Point Embarkation of Darnell Williams, 44. Now after an interview with Sheriff’s Office investigators, one Bluffton man has been charged with the February 18th murder. According to Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Allen Haynes, 53, was charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm in the commission of a Violent Crime that left Williams dead on arrival to Memorial Hospital from a single gunshot wound.
Investigators learned that Haynes and Williams were coworkers at Haig Point and knew each other well and the night of the fatal incident both men arrived at the parking lot separately to take the ferry over to Haig Point. According to the release, there was an interaction between them and Haynes, who was sitting in his car, shot Williams. Haynes left the scene right after the shooting. The gun used has not been found yet. What was said between Haynes and Williams and the reasoning behind the shooting is an ongoing investigation.
Allen Haynes is currently being held at the Beaufort County Detention Center.
