SAVANNAH, GA (WSAV) The closed door ceremony for the hundreds of members of the St. Patrick’s Day committee took place Sunday.
Out of it emerged the 2016 Parade Grand Marshal Michael Foran.
“He brings again a very rich history of past Irishman,” says committee General Chairman Jerry Hogan.
Foran has been a part of the committee for more than forty years. His late father served as general chairman in 1960 and grand marshal in 1983. As he received the nomination, Foran had his own son along to soak it all in.
“It’s just in your blood,” says the grand marshal.
Foran spent two years coordinating the parade as the committee’s general chairman. He’ll need that experience because in the next three weeks he has more than seventy five events to attend as Savannah’s top Irishman.
“He’s got a busy schedule the next three weeks are going to be night and day,” says Foran’s predecessor 2015 parade Grand Marshal Hugh Coleman.
Schedule aside and leading up to the big parade, Foran is confident Savannians and visitors alike will have a great time.
Here is a calendar of the several weekend and weekday events leading up to St. Patrick’s Day.
“It’s going to be even better this year I can promise you, with chairman Jerry hogan he’s a man on point he knows what he’s doing believe me the parade will be well run and with a great attendance,” says Foran.
Now that the grand marshal has been crowned, we are weeks away from the 192nd saint Patrick’s day parade.
“We’re at a full space, a full sprint to put the parade on the street,” says the chairman.
