Three robberies have occurred downtown between February 19 and February 24 that Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department’s Robbery Unit is currently investigating. The first one took place at 8:30 p.m. on February 19th, a couple was walking in Washington Square when a suspect approached them with a firearm and robbed the couple. The suspect was described as a black male with a dark complexion wearing a black skull cap and all black clothing,
The second robbery occurred at 8 p.m., a couple was outside a restaurant on River Street where they too were approached by a suspect. The suspect proceeded to snatch the male victim’s wallet and ran east on Factor’s Walk. They described the suspect as a 5’8″ black male with short twist styled hair, wearing a black t-shirt with black and white checkered pants.
The thirst and most recent robbery occurred a little after 2 a.m. on February 24, Metro police responded to an armed robbery alert on East Bay Street. The suspect approached two people and started a conversation with them. The suspect then presented a firearm and robbed the two victims of cell phones, wallet, and keys. They described the suspect as a black male with a light complexion and mustache, no older than 30 wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.
According to the news release sent by Darnisha Green, detectives are investigating if the robberies are linked and to identify any of the suspects.
