UPDATE: Abigail Kemp pleaded guilty to robbery charges in a Panama City Federal Court.
Kemp waived her right to a trial in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina when she accepted a plea deal for the string of robberies that spanned a 10-month period, according to the Associated Press.
Abigail Lee Kemp, 24, who we first reported back in January for robbing Jared Vault jewelry store in Bluffton has been charged in a 2-count indictment. Kemp was charged with the robbery, as well as possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. The maximum penalty Kemp could receive is 45 years and a max fine of $500,000 according to a release sent by Beth Drake. Kemp is being held in federal custody in Florida after being indicted in Northern District of Florida for plotting to rob various jewelry stores and the possession of a firearm during the robberies.
Her case was investigated by the FBI and Beaufort County’s Sheriff’s Office and is assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney Nick Bianchi for prosecution. Kemp is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
