Savannah, GA – Savannah Fire investigators are looking into a Southside mobile home fire that injured a 56-year-old man Friday night.
Savannah firefighters responded to the Middleground Mobile Estates, 10801 Middleground Rd., Lot 45, just after 9:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames inside the mobile home. Firefighters quickly attacked the flames and initiated a search of the mobile home.
Firefighters located the victim in the rear of the home, in a bedroom unaffected by the flames. Firefighters were able to remove the victim from the home through a bedroom window.
The victim received immediate care from emergency medical personnel on scene. He was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The victim’s condition is unknown at this time. No one else was home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported. However, several of the victim’s pets (3 dogs and 2 cats) died in the fire.
Firefighters were able to contain the flames to the hallway and a back room of the mobile home. SFES investigators continue their review of the scene in an attempt to determine a cause and point of origin for the fire.
