Flooding in Hampton County

Hampton County in South Carolina has experienced approximately 4-5 inches of rain since last night, according to Hampton County Emergency Management. Hampton County Public Works and South Carolina Department of Transportation and local municipalities have been working diligently at opening ditches and trying to bank roads for safe passage with multiple dirt roads in the County impassable right now. The roads that are closed include Pocotaligo off Bo Peep Road all the way to Columbia Hwy 321.

If you see a barricade up, it is to alert you of danger ahead and to not cross. Some canals have also overflowed, making it impossible to see where the edge of the road is or the canal.

Emergency Management wants to ensure the people of the county take precautions when traveling on the roads within the county or towns. Rain is forecast for the rest of the day, according to the National Weather Service. Report damage to the dirt roads, barricades being removed or driven around and if roads are impassable contact the SCDOT or Hampton County Public Works according to EMD Susanne Peeples news release.
