Today is the first day of Severe Weather Awareness Week 2016.
Today, Georgia Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service want to remind you to have a plan in place for your family in case of severe weather. You should have the plan in place now, and practice it so that you’ll be ready immediately if severe weather ever hits your home. You should also have a check in person that lives out of town to contact, in case your are separated from your family.
Today GEMA and the NWS also want to remind you to have a NOAA weather radio. These are definitely useful in our area. They can be set to sound an alarm in the middle of the night in case a tornado warning is ever issued for your county.
