This weekend’s storm directly affected more than 85 million people, cancelling flights across the US, bringing feet of snow to some major cities, and bringing feet of water that flooded some coastal areas.
While of course the damage totals are still being calculated, the National Weather Service estimates this to be a billion dollar storm.
The blizzard of 1996 was similar to this storm in reach and impacts and ended up costing about $4.6 billion.
