SCMPD Chief Reports to City on Latest Crime Stats

Savannah Chatham Metro Police Chief Jack Lumpkin is reporting latest crime statistics to new city council members and new Mayor Eddie Deloach at this hour.

Lumpkin says crime fighting efforts, including working with the U.S. Attorney’s Office and U.S. Marshal’s office, are making a dent but a lot of work remains.

Figures for 2015 show there were 21 more murders than in 2014. There were 53 homicides last year.

Mayor Deloach was elected in part on his promise to make crime fighting a priority.
