Yusuf Shabazz’s motion for recusal has been denied.
He filed the motion stating that being a County Commissioner who has a role in voting on the budget for Chatham County District Attorney’s Office would create an appearance of conflict with the parties.
With there being no commission meetings between now and the Jury trial date, the State found that there would be no cause for concern with Shabazz as to any voting required on budgetary issues.
Shabazz first filed the motion on January 12, a little more than a month after entering a not guilty plea for accusations of leaving after clipping a City of Savannah road worker.
Shabazz’s court date is slated for February 1.
