More than 40 thousand men and women have returned from military service with life altering wounds. They need help as they face the difficult challenge of recovery.
An organization called Rebuilding America’s Warriors or RAW aims to do just that. Former Airforce Nurse Corps Veteran Maggie Lockridge has made it her mission to help wounded warriors. Lockridge says plastic surgery has transformed the lives of veterans wounded and disfigured from battle.
Some four hundred plastic, orthopedic and cosmetic surgeons around the country volunteer their time for the organization. Last year RAW provided more than four hundred procedures and some forty mouth restorations.
