(Beaufort, SC)- Local veterans will have a chance to meet with representatives for information on compensation, education, healthcare, employment and other services this week.
Friday, January 22, the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (SCDEW) is hosting its Mobile Vet Center. The center will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the local SC Works Center, 164 Castle Rock Road.
SCDEW is responsible for paying unemployment insurance benefits, collecting unemployment taxes, helping people find jobs, matching businesses with qualified candidates, and collecting and disseminating federal and state employment statistics.
Currently, there are more than 300 Vet Centers throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands to meet the needs of combat veterans upon returning home.
