Armstrong State University has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Military Friendly Public Universities and Colleges by Victory Media.
This list helps service members and their families with data-driven ratings about post-military education and career opportunities, according to the news release by Melanie Simon the PR manager for the school.
The school has been awarded the honor as a Military Friendly school for seven consecutive years and has also received recognition this year as a Top Military Friendly Institution in the fields of Security and Corrections and Technology and Telecommunications.
ASU offers a Green Zone initiative to support active duty military students and veterans on campus and waives all mandatory fees for active duty military. The university is also part of a network that guarantees transferability of credits for military students, provides in-state tuition for members of the military and their families and offers college credit for military experience as stated in the news release.
To earn a spot on the list, universities and colleges completed a rigorous survey covering ten components of success, including support for student veterans on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, military spouse policies and policies on National Guard and Reserve service.
“Those earning the 2016 Military Friendly designation demonstrate a strong connection between classroom learning and career development,” states Daniel Nichols, chief product officer of Victory Media. “They’re moving the needle beyond ‘why recruit military’ to translating military competencies into training and positive employment after graduation.”
The university also operated the Armstrong Liberty Center in Hinesville, which aids members of the military community and their families pursue higher education and earn college degrees in important fields in Liberty County.
